One of the challenges those of us in ministry face is the heart test of ambition.
Simply put, how can I be sure that what I’m doing “for the Lord” is really for the Lord? How can I tell if my ministry motivation is truly godly rather than selfish?
The heart test of ambition doesn’t only affect pastors and missionaries. Musicians, small group leaders, and ministry workers all will be tested on the level of motives for doing ministry.
Last March, I had the privilege of speaking to a group of pastors in Oklahoma on the topic of godly verses ungodly ambition. We looked at Jeremiah 45 and learned important lessons from the the life of a man named Baruch.
