Last night, we had a wonderful (but chilly) outdoor Christmas gathering for ESL families on the Heritage patio. Everyone who came enjoyed individual hot soup boxed-dinners (courtesy of Lilly Ruth, our school’s caterer). Students from Heritage college served our guests and also provided beautiful music (special thanks to Dr. Doug Thomson). Linda and I led a carol sing and we presented the good news of why Jesus came–to be our Saviour. Our ESL friends left with candles, jars of caramel popcorn, gifts for the children, as well as copies of the gospel of John.
The first Christmas had an “outdoor” feel to it (shepherds on the hillside; Joseph and Mary in a stable or cave). So, even though, it was a cold, windy evening, we all had a sense of joy and wonder at seeing what God has done and what He is still doing to draw people to Jesus.
