Many Christians find the book of Revelation both fascinating and frustrating.
Fascinating . . . because of the spectacular vision John records: the opening of a sealed scroll, the outpouring of cataclysmic judgments, living creatures and angels, a dragon and a beast, the victorious return of Christ to earth, the promise of a new heaven and earth. Revelation is a page-turner, a book that captures attention.
Frustrating . . . because we feel baffled by what it all means and how it applies to us. Especially since Christians disagree about how we should interpret this amazing book.
I’ve spent time studying the book of Revelation over the years. But this year I spent the first half of 2026 doing a deeper dive. Each week, I focused on reading, re-reading, and reflecting on one chapter in the book. I wrote a short summary for each chapter to highlight key actions and ideas.
In addition to trying to understand the book’s message, my goal was to let what I was learning shape how I am living. So, for each chapter, I identified what I learned about Jesus and how I (and other Christians) can apply the message in personal ways.
