Praise and Prayer Update (July 4, 2026)

In our last Praise and Prayer Update, I asked you to pray for Linda as she spoke at a women’s conference and for me as I spoke at a pastor’s conference.  By God’s grace, we both sensed His good hand on us as we taught His Word.   Thank you for praying that God would use us to speak His life-giving Word.

I also want to offer praise to God for His mercies to us over the past month.  On June 4th, the day after I finished speaking at the pastor’s conference, we headed out on a road trip across the continent.  We drove west to Lynden, Washington and Portland, Oregon, to see our mothers and siblings.

On the first night of our travels, June 4th, we celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary with Giordano’s deep-dish pizza in downtown Chicago.  After dinner, we strolled down beautiful Chestnut Avenue to visit Moody Bible Institute, a wonderful school both our sons attended.

We travelled Interstate 94, which took us through North Dakota, the home of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.  While we only had time for a short visit to this national park (we’re trying to see as many of them as we can), we were blessed to see the elusive wild horses.

We arrived in Lynden, Washington (just south of Abbotsford, BC) in time to help celebrate Linda’s mom (Janet Honcoop) on her 90th birthday.  The family rented the local museum for a big celebration of God’s faithfulness to Janet over her ninety years.

From Lynden, we travelled south to Portland and visited my two sisters and my mother (who is 91).  My mom, Joan Reed, lives in a retirement home and teaches a weekly Bible study.  What a sweet time we had together.

We arrived home to Canada a few days ago, road weary but rejoicing in God’s goodness.

Let me end with one prayer request for the coming week.

Linda is scheduled to have a medical test on Wednesday.  Please pray for peace as she heads into this.  We’re also asking the Lord for good results from the test.  Thanks for praying with us and for us.
