Praise and Prayer Update (April 29, 2022)

Graduation weekend has arrived! There is a great deal of excitement and joy on campus these days. Students have successfully completed their studies and are able to relax and rejoice together. Tonight (Friday) we have our annual Graduation Banquet and tomorrow (Saturday) we host the College Graduation (10:00 am) and Seminary Graduation (2:30 pm). Both ceremonies will be livestreamed at DiscoverHeritage.ca/Live.

My heart is filled with praise to the Lord for bringing us through the many challenges we faced in the past year. God gave wisdom to our leaders and grace to our students to handle COVID challenges. His Spirit moved in many hearts, shaping students for a lifetime of service. The plans for the new seminary building have been submitted to the city for approval and the capital campaign continues to move forward in wonderful ways (more on that in a later post).

Here are some prayer requests I’d ask you to remember at this time.

Graduation Celebration. Please pray that the graduation events would bring honour to the Lord and joy to our graduates. Dr. Stephen Yuille is the commencement speaker at the College Graduation and I am the speaker for the Seminary Graduation. Pray that our addresses to the students will both encourage and challenge them.

Preaching in Churches. Linda and I hit the road after graduation so I can preach at several churches in the Ottawa area. Ask the Lord to empower me to preach His Word in a faithful, fruitful way.

Joan Reed. Linda and I returned on Monday evening from visiting our families on the West Coast. As I wrote in a previous post, my mother (Joan Reed) was scheduled for back surgery. After consulting with the surgeon, it was decided to postpone the surgery and pursue less-invasive treatments to deal with her chronic pain. I was grateful we could be with her and take part in the decision-making process. Thank you to all who have been praying for my mother. Her faith is strong while her body grows weak. Please pray for continued strength in her soul and reduced pain in her back and legs.

Thank you for praying for us and with us. God is answering prayer!
