Bible Study Resource: Standing Firm

Like it or not, all of us live on a spiritual battlefield. But many of us live as if life were more of a playground than a battlefield.

In his book Epic, John Eldredge writes,

I am staggered by the level of naïveté that most people live with regarding evil. They don’t take it seriously. They don’t live as though the Story has a Villain. . . . Life is very confusing if you do not take into account that there is a Villain. That you, my friend, have an Enemy.”

Epic, page 39

The Bible makes it clear that all who follow Jesus can expect opposition. In addition to the fight we have with our own flesh, we face a world that is often hostile to Christ. And behind any human opposition, we face a more sinister and powerful adversary. As Paul writes in Ephesians 6:12: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over the present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

Thankfully, God has made a way for us to be strong and stand firm.

In the Standing Firm Bible Study, you will be guided through a study of Ephesians 6:10-20. You will discover powerful truths that will help you stand firm in the midst of a spiritual battle.

This study guide can be used individually or by small groups who want to dig into God’s Word together.
