Praise and Prayer Update (January 29, 2021)

My heart spills over with praise as I write this update.

Last week, I asked you to pray for several upcoming teaching and preaching opportunities. I also asked for wisdom and courage for our Heritage Board of Directors and Advisory Council as we met to prayerfully consider a 2025 Faith Vision for the school.

I’m grateful for your prayers and for God’s answers. Both Linda and I sensed God’s enablement as we taught courses on Friday and Saturday. On Tuesday, in our weekly online chapel, I had the joy of giving an encouraging message from Isaiah 40 about God’s greatness. The Heritage Board meetings on Wednesday and Thursday affirmed our sense that God is giving the school an enlarged ministry assignment. Even in challenging times, we are seeking to move forward by faith to serve Christ’s Church and His mission in the world.

Because God answers prayers, I’m delighted to ask you to continue praying for us and with us. Here are several key requests for the upcoming week:

This week is our Annual Global Missions Conference. Because of COVID restrictions, we are not able to host missionaries on campus this year. All sessions will be online. This conference is one of the highlights of our year. Please pray the missions conference will still have a large and lasting impact on the hearts of our students.

As a result of our recent Board meetings, I (Rick) will be leading our team to move forward in some strategic initiatives. Please ask the Lord to continue to show His grace and guidance as we step forward in faith. Pray that I will know God’s empowerment so I can provide wise, courageous leadership for the school.

At this point, the number of college students applying for next Fall is lower than the past few years. COVID has made it more difficult for us to connect with prospective students. Please pray that the Lord would move many students to come to Heritage to be better equipped to know, love, and serve the Lord Jesus. (If you know of someone who should consider coming to Heritage, please let me know and we will reach out to him/her.)

Thank you for praying!
