Last Friday afternoon we received the tragic news that two Heritage students, Matt Collins and Tatiana Blackburn, were involved in a terrible automobile accident. Tatiana was killed in the crash; Matt was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was released on Saturday afternoon.
Matt had been a student leader at Heritage and was currently working in our IT department. Tatiana was a college student who had served as a RA (Resident Assistant). Matt and Tat had recently announced their engagement.
I’m writing to ask you to join us in praying that the Lord would be Matt’s strength in this time of deepest sorrow. Also, please pray for Tat’s family who serve as missionaries in Peru. Pray also for the Heritage College community (students, faculty and staff) as we grieve this loss. We all need the help that only the “God of all comfort” (2 Cor. 1:3) can give.
There was a front page article on Tat in this morning’s Waterloo Region newspaper. The reporter did a commendable job highlighting Tat’s vibrant faith Christ Jesus and her desire to serve others in Jesus’ name.
We are holding on to God’s promises and leaning on all-sufficient grace. May the Lord be glorified. May the hurting been helped. May people be pointed to Christ Jesus–the One who gave Tat eternal life and the promise of resurrection (John 11:25).
