On this April Fool’s Day, I’m reminded of a powerful statement made by Jim Elliot, a missionary who was martyred in 1956. Jim wrote this in his journal:
“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”
I want to thank you for praying for the requests I posted last Friday. God graciously provided some answers that bring us joy.
The Marriage Conference that Linda and I led turned out to be a rich and fruitful time. George Boyd, the church’s pastor, let us know that many couples had been encouraged and challenged to keep growing in their marriages.
Our Ministry Leadership Day with Bruce Clemenger was an informative and instructive time for the students and ministry leaders who attended. Bruce highlighted the challenges of living as a Christian in our current Canadian context. He also pointed towards hopeful and helpful ways to engage with those who do not share our convictions or our love for Christ.
Building Permits for the Seminary Building. This week, we’ve made progress on clearing up the final details required by the city in order to receive our Site Plan Approval and Building Permits. I’m told we are very close to having everything complete. Please keep praying that we will soon receive clearance to begin construction.
Here’s one more prayer request I’d ask you to remember. Tomorrow (April 2), Linda teaches a class for women who want to grow as teachers of God’s Word. Please pray for LInda as she leads the course.
Thanks for praying!
