This morning, my devotional reading from Psalm 138 ended with a word of praise and petition: “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands” (Psalm 138:8). How good to know God’s unfailing love moves Him to fulfill His purposes for our lives. That’s true for us as individual believers; it’s also true for churches and schools like Heritage. He will accomplish His purposes for us!
Thank you for praying last week for the course that Linda and I taught on Friday and Saturday (Reaching the World: Local, National, and Global Evangelism). We sensed God’s work in our hearts, stretching us to share His heart for those who don’t know Jesus. We even had the opportunity to hit the streets and speak with people about the hope we have in Christ.
Here are several key prayer requests for the coming week.
Sunday Ministry: This Sunday, I (Rick) have the joy of preaching at West Highland Baptist Church in Hamilton. Pray for spiritual and physical strength as I proclaim God’s Word.
Heritage Preaching Lectures: Next Thursday, Heritage hosts its annual Preaching Lectures. This year we are delighted to have Dr. Jonathan Griffiths as our guest presenter. Jonathan serves as the Senior Pastor at the Metropolitan Bible Church in Ottawa. That’s the church Linda and I served for almost 15 years prior to coming to Heritage. Pray that Jonathan’s teaching will help all those attending to grow as preachers and teachers.
Conference Speaking: Next Friday Linda and I are scheduled to present a workshop at the annual conference for the Society of Professors in Christian Education. This year’s conference is in San Diego. Pray for us as we travel to California and present at the conference. We want to be helpful to the other professors and administrators who attend.
Thanks for praying for us and with us.
