Linda and I returned on Monday from a two week journey in the States. We were challenged and encouraged at a conference put on by the Association for Biblical Higher Education. In addition to meeting friends who serve at other Bible colleges and seminaries, we benefited from the plenary sessions and workshops. A highlight was the concert put on by Stephen Curtis Chapman on the closing night of the conference.
On the way to and from the conference we visited one of our sons and his family (including two of our grandkids!). We also had the joy to staying with Joanne Shetler, a missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators. During Linda’s university years, she spent a life-shaping summer in the Philippines with Joanne. (If you are looking for a powerful missionary biography, check out Jo’s riveting story in And the Word Came with Power).
Now that we’ve moved in to March, today is a great day to “March forth.” I’d ask you to pray for God’s guidance and empowerment as we continue to move forward as a school. Here a several specific requests.
Building Permits. Our architects and project manager are working hard to submit the site plan for the new seminary building. It’s a challenge to complete all the required documents and drawings. Please pray that the process would be expedited so we can begin construction this summer.
Leadership Wisdom. I (Rick) would value your prayers for God’s wisdom and guidance as I lead our executive team. We have some major decisions to make in the coming weeks. My desire is to follow the Lord’s leading in each of these important decisions.
Finishing strong. I’m grateful to God for His continued presence and protection on the school. We continue to be a healthy campus both physically and spiritually. Please pray that the final two months would be exceptionally impactful in shaping the lives of our students for a lifetime of serving Christ. Our mission as a school is to help Christians major in the Word of God so they can help churches make a world of difference.
