Praise and Prayer Update (July 5, 2024)

On this beautiful summer morning in Ontario, I’m writing to give thanks to all who prayed for us in our recent ministry opportunities. In the previous Prayer and Praise Update, I mentioned several upcoming speaking engagements: Faith Missions Conference and the Global Proclamation Academy.

By God’s grace, we sensed His strength and favour on these ministry events.

The weather forecast called for severe thunderstorms the weekend I (Rick) preached at the Faith Missions Conference. Since the meetings were held in a large tent, heavy rain and winds would cause problems. But on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons, the weather cleared up at the time of the services. I was able to preach on Thirsting for God without too much distraction. God used His Word to strengthen hearts in Christ.

Right after the Faith Mission Conference, Linda and I began the long drive to Dallas Texas. On Thursday (June 27th), I spoke to a gathering of 27 young pastors from 27 different countries. They were part of the Global Proclamation Academy, run by REACH ministries and hosted on the campus of Dallas seminary (my alma mater).

What a joy it was to teach these younger pastors on subjects related to preaching God’s Word. Linda joined me for the final session as I spoke on The Pastor’s Closest Ally (his wife). She added some insightful words from a wife’s perspective. God graciously used this day of teaching to equip these pastoral leaders.

On Saturday night, we attended their graduation banquet and heard Dr. Ramesh Richard challenge them to live for Christ as they head back to their home countries.

This Sunday (July 7), I begin serving as the interim Preaching Pastor at Grandview Church in Kitchener. Please pray that I will serve this church well over the next five months. Also ask the Lord to lead their search for the their senior pastor.

Dr. Ramesh Richard
