A Big Change for the Reeds

This is a time of significant change in our lives and we wanted to pass on the news.

After 10 years of serving as the president at Heritage College and Seminary, I will be moving to the position of Chancellor.  This position is free from the administrative responsibilities that come with the president’s role.  The focus of the Chancellor (as envisioned at Heritage) is to represent the school through speaking at churches, conferences and in Heritage chapels. I will also plan to continue teaching preaching courses at the school. Linda also can continue to teach in the areas of women in ministry and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

Over the past year, I’ve sensed a change was coming as I faced some lingering health challenges and felt ready to have some relief from the heavy lifting of senior leadership. I still have a passion for preaching/teaching/mentoring, so the Board crafted a position (Chancellor) that removes the administrative load and focuses on the sides of ministry that are life-giving for me and beneficial for Heritage. They offered me this role as a salaried position, but I have opted to do it on a volunteer basis to give us greater freedom in our day to day schedules.

There is some sadness and tearing in this decision as it means the end of an era for us.  It’s been a joy and honour to serve at Heritage for the past decade.

At the same time, there is some relief and excitement in our hearts as we envision more time to spend together, the chance to move at a more relaxed pace, and the joy of investing in kids and grandkids.  We also are energized by considering a wider ministry with several mission agencies and ministries that have invited us to partner with them.

To that end, we are posting resources that we have completed over the years that may enhance your personal life or ministry. Many of these are already posted on this site. We would like to give freely to others what may benefit the local and global church. We’d like to create a place where you could contact us, just in case you are interested in having Rick or Linda speak (email us at rickandlindareed@gmail.com). We’ll keep you posted on our speaking opportunities in case you are able to drop by and say hello.

We would ask for your prayers for us at this time of transition as we embark on a new season of life and ministry.
