Resource Spotlight: Help with Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel

Some of the richest parts of the Old Testament can be some of the most difficult to understand. I’m talking about the prophetic books written by Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel.

In these powerful books, we get to know God in deep and life-changing ways. We learn what delights Him and what angers Him. We see His power over nations and His plan for the future, including His plan to send a Saviour to rescue us from sin and death.

At the same time, these books can baffle us. We can get lost in the historical references: the rise and fall of the Assyrians and Babylonians, the tensions with Aram and Edom, the succession of kings in Israel or Judah. We can be perplexed by the prophetic predictions: which ones are near-term and which ones relate to end times. We can also be unsure how to apply the truth contained in these works to our present situations: how do these pronouncements to Israel apply to Christians today?

If you would like help in making sense of the major prophets, I have a resource to recommend. Over the years, I’ve studied these three books and written a summary for each chapter in Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel. Each chapter summary includes a section of practical applications for believers today. Over the past few years, I posted a chapter summary for each book under the heading, Tuesdays with Isaiah, Tuesdays with Jeremiah, and Tuesdays with Ezekiel. (The title is borrowed from the book Tuesdays with Morrie)
