Praise and Prayer Update (October 4, 2024)

For over a year, since I finished serving as the president of Heritage College and Seminary, we’ve joined many in praying for the person who would my role at the school. Recently, the Board chairman for Heritage announced that Dr. Jonathan Griffiths has agreed to serve in the role of Chancellor. Jonathan serves as the senior pastor at the Metropolitan Bible Church (a church Linda and I know and love). He will continue to serve at the Met and take on a part-time role with Heritage. (You can read the press release here). Please join me in praying for Dr. Griffiths and the ministry of Heritage in this new season of ministry.

Here are a few other prayer requests I’d ask you to remember as we head into the weekend.

Heritage Courses on Saturday: Tomorrow, October 5th, Linda and I will both be teaching all-day courses at Heritage. She will be speaking to women in a course on spiritual leadership and effective women’s ministry. I’ll be teaching young preachers in a homiletics course. Please pray for strength and spiritual effectiveness in our teaching ministry.

Sunday at Grandview. You may recall that I am currently serving as the Interim Preaching Pastor at Grandview Church in Kitchener. On Sunday we’ll continue working our way through the fascinating book of 1 Thessalonians. This week I’ll be preaching on having a godly concern for others (1 Thessalonians 2:17-3:13). I’d ask you to pray for spiritual impact from this sermon. Also, pleaes pray for Grandview as it looks for its next lead pastor.

Our mothers. Both of our mothers are far away geographically but near to our hearts. And both are living with serious health challenges. We hope to visit them in the coming months. Until then, I’d welcome your prayers for Joan (my mom) and Janet (Linda’s mom). Pray that their hearts would be strengthened by God even as their bodies weaken with age. Pray that we’d be able to visit and bring comfort and encouragement to them.

Thank you for praying for us and with us!
