Our Soundtrack for 2024: Believe For It

Linda and arrived in Amarillo, Texas weary from several long days of driving. It was early January 2024, just after New Years Day. The weather was turning colder, snow was predicted to fall on the Texas Panhandle in the coming days. So we pulled into a hotel along Highway 40 to shelter for the night.

After a Tex-Mex dinner we turned on the TV. To our surprise and delight, we found a channel that was running several Christian concerts back to back. First came Steven Curtis Chapman with the Nashville Recording Orchestra. Next, a concert with CeCe Winans. While both Linda and I are quite familiar with Steven Curtis Chapman, we were much less familiar with CeCe Winans. We’d heard of her but not listened to her music.

We were in for an unexpected, soul-refreshing hour of musical worship.

CeCe’s concert, filmed during the pandemic, presented a number of songs from her album Believe for It. Interspersed with the music were short interviews where CeCe spoke about the impact of various songs. The music was uplifting; the interviews were heartfelt and believable.

LInda and I first met in a singing group at Biola University, so we’ve always shared a love for Christian music. The songs on CeCe’s Believe for It album spoke powerfully to our souls, calling us to rise in faith and believe God for what seems impossible.

I realize we all have different musical tastes and preferences. What one person finds amazing, another finds annoying. So I don’t expect that everyone will respond to Believe for It the way Linda and I did. However, this album has deeply impacted many people; it was the Gospel Worship Album of the year.

Believe for It has become the soundtrack for our journey through 2024. We’ve listened to it over and over again. Last night, we closed the day with a few of our favourites from the album.

Here’s a sampling of the songs that have strengthened our faith to believe God’s promises. If you are needing to trust God in a deeper way, I believe these songs could be used by the Lord to strengthen your faith as well.

Here’s the entire concert that we watched in Amarillo.
