I want to begin with thanksgiving to God for answering prayer related to the two ministry opportunities highlighted in the last Praise and Prayer Update.
The 30th Anniversary Banquet at Heritage provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with Heritage alumni and supporters from across the decades. Marvin Brubacher (Heritage’s first president) reflected on the miracles surrounding the start of the school 30 years ago. I had the joy of speaking about WHY Heritage exists: to serve Christ’s Church. We left encouraged by what God has done and will do through the ministry of the school.
Last night Linda and I returned from the Pastors and Wives Marriage and Ministry retreat at Muskoka Bible Center. What an amazing time! Linda and I addressed some of the “tension points” experienced by those in pastoral ministry. We also looked to God’s Word for how tension points can become turning points for growth in our lives and marriages. It was evident to all that God’s Spirit was at work in many lives. Thank you again for praying for us!
As we move forward, here is a special prayer request I’d ask you to remember this weekend.
SOCEM Conference. Tomorrow (October 28), Linda is a panelist at the SOCEM conference in Toronto. SOCEM (Southern Ontario Cooperative of ESL Ministries) gathers together Christians who are engaged in teaching English to new Canadians. Linda will have the chance to coach those who lead ESL ministries in their churches and communities. Pray that God would give her wisdom and discernment as she speaks.
