Happy 30th and 40th Anniversaries

It’s been a while since we’ve posted as we’ve been finishing up the school year and taking some time off to rest and refresh. Let me give a bit of an update and highlight two special anniversaries.

April finished with our Graduation Celebration. This year marked the 30th anniversary for the school, which made the celebration sweeter. Both the college and seminary graduation services were joyful and spiritually uplifting. We had a large graduating class in both the college and seminary. I’m thrilled to think of the impact so many of these graduates will have in their churches and communities. Heritage exists to help Christians major in the Word of God so they can help churches make a world of difference. By God’s grace, that’s happening! Praise Him.

Linda and I finished the school year quite tired and in need of rest. So we are taking some vacation time in the summer months. I hope to post occasional updates on this blog. But the focus for the summer is slowing down and resting up.

One of the big events for us this summer is the celebration of our 40th anniversary on June 4th . How grateful I am for Linda. Proverbs 19:14 says, “House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.” For 40 years, I’ve been blessed with a beautiful, faithful, fun, and prudent wife. She is a gift from the Lord that I treasure more as the years go by.

At our wedding, we sang a song I wrote called “Singing with You”. The Lord has allowed us to live out the lyrics for the past four decades. Here are the words:

One new candle ignited, as two flames are united to burn as one.
And our lives will burn with fire that comes from above,
Its light is truth and its warmth is love, the flame is love
.

And I’ll still be shining for him, but from now on I’ll be shining with you.
I will join my light with your light, as He’s led me to do.
And together we’ll shine brighter than we could shine alone,
illumining the darkness where the light has not shown.

Two solos have ended, as two voices are blended to sing as one.
And the song we’ll sing together was written above,
its lyrics are truth and its melody is love, the song is love.

And I’ll still be singing for Him, but from now on I’ll be singing with you

I will join my voice with your voice, as He’s led me to do.
And together we’ll sing better than we could sing alone,
singing His song where the song is unknown.
And as His Spirit sings His Word through us the music will be strong;
and those enclosed by silence may start to sing along.

And since the song goes on forever, it will last our whole lives through
And there’s no one in this world with whom I’d rather sing His song….than you!
